Behnoush McKay is a professor and chair of the Graphic Design Department at Woodbury University. She joined Woodbury University in 1997 as an adjunct faculty and moved to a full-time position in 2006. She received her BFA in Graphics and Packaging Design from Art Center College of Design, and her MFA in Visual Communication from California State University Northridge. In 2021 she started her collaboration with BIHE. During the last 12 years, she has presented her academic research at both international and national design and educational conferences on topics including, future of graphic design and design education, social responsibility in design, and educational assessment.

In her classrooms, Behnoush assists students in developing analytical perspective in design through research and its applications. She leads them to translate complex materials and information into clear and cohesive messages. Visualization of information helps both designer and end users to gain a better understanding of a subject matter and attracts their interaction with the topic. Designers must be concerned with all the cognitive and physical behaviors that are enhanced or diminished through individuals’ interaction with their designs.
