We’re excited you’re considering the Wilmette Institute’s Social Transformation Certificate.
If you are applying through a partner institution, this page will guide you through the admissions process. We are looking for students who are thoughtful, curious, and committed to learning and contributing to social change.
Be yourself. Your authentic voice, experiences, and aspirations matter most in this process.
Step 1: Submit Your Interest Form
Begin by completing the Interest Form linked at the bottom of this page.
- Deadline for Spring 2027 entry: August 18, 2026
- Your submission will be reviewed by your Department Chair
- Approved students will receive an invitation on September 3rd to complete the full application by September 18
Step 2: Complete Your Reflection Requirement
As part of your application, you will submit a reflection that helps us understand your interests, experiences, and readiness for the program.
You may choose one of the following formats:
Option A: Written Essay
- Length: 300–400 words
Prompt:
Wilmette Institute courses explore themes such as social change, race unity, education, and environmental stewardship.
In your essay, please address:
- A social issue or challenge you care about, and why it matters to you
- How your academic, personal, or community experiences have shaped your understanding
- How this program will support your intellectual, professional, or civic growth
Option B: Recorded Video Response
- Length: 5–6 minutes
This option allows you to express your ideas in a more conversational format.
Please address:
- Your background and academic interests
- A reading or idea that has shaped your understanding of a social issue
- Why you are interested in the program and what you hope to gain
Recording & Submission Guidelines (Video Option)
There is no need for a polished production—we are interested in your ideas and clarity of expression.
Tips:
- Use a phone, tablet, or computer
- Record in a quiet, well-lit space
How to submit:
- Upload your video to Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, or YouTube (unlisted), or use a file-sharing service
- Ensure your link permissions allow viewing
- Send your video or link via email
