In looking to make the life and teachings of Bahá’u’lláh, the Báb, and the dramatic origins of the Bahá’í Faith more accessible to a wide range of readers, I turned my writing skills to creative nonfiction—a contemporary, experimental genre which uses literary craft to present nonfiction. The result was The Story of Bahá’u’lláh: Promised One of All Religions. In it the reader is immersed in episodes that unfold scene by scene, drawn into actions as they occur, struggles as they arise, choices as they are made—very much like following characters in a novel. But unlike a novel, the compelling life of Bahá’u’lláh, and those whose lives intersect with His, is grounded in meticulous research, with the writings of Bahá’u’lláh as the surest source for His own thoughts and feelings. Reader responses indicate that The Story of Bahá’u’lláh creates an intimate connection that is well received by diverse readers.

I am currently writing a companion volume, ‘Abdu’l-Baha and the Destiny of America.

My learning process in writing led me to create a succinct visual paradigm for creative strategies, attitudes, and practices, which I wrote about in my blog and presented at an Association for Bahá’í Studies conference.
