Deepen is a new program of the Wilmette Institute that will have at its heart live webinar presentations. Each webinar will be broadcast live on our Facebook page and to anyone who has a link. At the end of the session, learners will be able to ask questions in Q/A sessions. The recording will be placed on the Institute’s YouTube channel for watching at any time.
If a webinar is full you may be unable to log in to the live presentation, as the system currently accepts the first 100 participants only. If that happens you can switch to watching on Facebook or YouTube. Here are the web addresses for both alternate broadcast options:
The shortest “Deepen” program will be a single webinar, but the Wilmette Institute plans to create series of two or more webinars on a variety of topics. The Institute hopes to accompany videos with a web page including reading materials, study questions, and a blog for ongoing discussion, with the presenter periodically weighing in to answer questions and offer comments.
Some of the Deepen programs will complement existing Wilmette Institute courses, which are longer, involve more reading, and have very active faculty involvement. In many cases faculty for our current courses will record six or seven videos for their courses, two or three of which will be used as Deepen! programs, thus providing a free taste of the more intensively developed course.
In other cases, Deepen programs will be an initial exploration of a subject that later will be developed into a course. The Wilmette Institute would like to hear from you about subjects for deepenings and speakers who could provide them.
