The Student Council

The Student Council (if the students elect one) consists of five to seven students, elected by all summer residential students during the first week of classes according to the standard principles of Bahá'í elections. The Council in turn chooses officers.

The Council exists for several reasons. One is to plan the spiritual activities of the Wilmette Institute community: the weekly worship gatherings, the daily dawn prayers, and any other community gatherings of the Institute. The Student Council composes an annual message to the Universal House of Justice on behalf of the students. It provides the students with a mechanism whereby they can shape the summer session. It also can help handle matters such as discipline. The Student Council continues its work throughout the year.

The council may be written in care of the Wilmette Institute Registrar, info@wilmetteinstitute.org.
